Diane Maclean is a sculptor and environmental artist. She has exhibited her work widely in the UK and around the world and many of her sculptures are held in public and private collections.
She works predominantly in stainless steel on a large scale. In fabricating her sculptures she has worked with with Birch Engineering since 1990. The partnership brings art and engineering together and ensures her imaginative projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and durability.

"Light, reflection, colour, movement, sound and suspension are present in my sculpture and installations. Much of my sculpture uses engineering techniques and I like the qualities of industrial materials. I frequently work in the landscape, enjoying the challenge of the large scale and the elements, and I often find my ideas spring from this. I have recently found inspiration in the work of scientists researching climatic change and the materials of our planet and beyond. The history of a place can also be a source and the materials themselves influence what I make .
I enjoy working in the public arena, involving people who are not primarily interested in art."
