Vessels (2000)

Stanmore, London

Commissioned by J Sainsbury plc, through Harrow Heritage Trust, to coincide with the opening of their supermarket in Stanmore, near to the site of an old Roman road. A Roman kiln was discovered near the site and examples of Roman pottery, on display in Verulamium Museum, are the source of ideas for the sculpture: a 'carrot' amphora and a turnip shaped amphora.

Material: Stainless steel.

Height of tallest: 4500mm.
